ELevate fails at stage 2: "the script could not prove that the system has control over its own boot process"

Symptoms

ELevate fails in stage 2 with the following error.

* 2024-10-18 13:10:07 (7592) [ERROR] own boot process using the utilities the operating system provides.

Description

During Stage 2 of ELevate, a test to change the boot loader configuration the same way leapp would run the upgrade is performed, but this does not complete as expected, resulting in the above error. The issue may be related to a configuration or how the hypervisor manages the boot loader.

Workaround

You should contact your hypervisor administrator or data center to ensure the system has complete control over GRUB2.
