Introduction
cPanel releases four major versions per year, the first of which is that year's LTS (Long-Term Support) version. We understand that some administrators prefer time between updates, or have automatic updates disabled to avoid introducing new features/functionality without internal testing. It's important to understand that EOL versions of cPanel no longer receive updates, including security and bug fixes, and may include defects that have already been fixed in newer versions.
Procedure
To determine the current version of cPanel, you can do this from the command line by running
/usr/local/cpanel/cpanel -V
Or through the WHM by navigating to Home » Serer Configuration » Update Preference. Here you can select a release tier.
When a release of cPanel & WHM no longer exists in any tier and reaches End of Life (EOL), it becomes unsupported. Unsupported versions don’t receive security updates or bug fixes.
