Since cPanel includes service SSLs, why is there no SSL installed on https://my.hostname.com?
The checkallsslcerts tool that applies an SSL to the services of the machine makes sure the hostname is secured for cPanel services. This would include WHM and cPanel access, webmail, Dovecot, Exim, and FTP services of the machine. However, we do not install this SSL certificate in Apache as the hostname of the machine is not designed to serve web content. There is a feature request open for this behavior at the following link:

You can manually copy the service SSL certificate and install it through the WHM >> "Install an SSL Certificate on a Domain" page if you'd like to add that functionality to your server, although we do not recommend trying to server web content from the server's hostname.
