Domain pointing to another website?
Hello guys.
I am new to the forum and I could use some help with a problem I have.
I have a domain (example.com) that is handled by company A.
I also have a web server with cPanel that I have full access at a company B.
I have created a subdomain (falieris.example.com) in order to separate things from the main server and I would now like to connect the domain to point to the public_html of the newly set subdomain.
At the domain, I have set 2 A entries for DNS, 1 for "@" to point to the IP address of my server (192.196.xxx.xxx) and 1 for "www" to also point there.
At the web server, I have left the default settings of the subdomain.
Unfortunately, when I access "example.com" I get an error and I am redirected to "example.com/cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi".
What am I doing wrong?
Is there something else I should change, update or check?
Thank you for your help.

Hello, Have you created a cPanel account for the domain name or subdomain using the "Create a New Account" option in Web Host Manager? If so, have you considered setting up name servers to avoid the need to manually adjust DNS records at the domain registrar? EX: How to Set Up Nameservers in a cPanel Environment - cPanel Knowledge Base - cPanel Documentation Thank you. 0 -
As a extra tidbit to the "How to Set Up Nameservers in a cPanel Environment" Some registrars are a pita, so you might also need you to add the IP addresses for the server name itself or find the "Nameserver" settings lumped into a generic "Host names" section. Mine is setup as: " Manage DNS " Host names with the entries: {IP Address} NS1 {IP Address} NS2 {IP Address} SRV01 ymmv, Michael 0
