Details on Password Age

Hello. This is my first post here so excuse me if I may be doing something wrong. My question is regarding the Password Age in Home "Security Center "Configure Security Policies How does the Password Age actually function? Most of our users are connected to Outlook. Does that mean once the password expires, they will stop receiving emails and will have to login to webmail to reset their password so they can continue using it? If not, is there any way to make this happen? Thank you for your help
