Google BBR on a cPanel server?
I have read at a few places that we can make some config settings in the kernel to get the concepts of Google BBR activated on our server for faster website delivery.
Is it officially supported by Cpanel? is there any plan to support this in near future?

Hi, The BBR protocol is only available in Linux kernels 4.9 and newer[0]. We only support the stock kernels that ship with CentOS 6 and 7 (and their cousins like CloudLinux), and KernelCare. Footnote 0: that version may be wrong. BBR was introduced in 2016. My research did find some custom 4.9 kernels for CentOS 7 which is what I based the kernel version number on. 0 -
1. Any chance the kernel will be upgraded by Cpanel team soon? 2. Can we just make the settings and hope to activate it or we really need version 4.9? 0 -

Not at this time.2. Can we just make the settings and hope to activate it or we really need version 4.9?
My suspicion is you need a kernel version newer than is shipped in CentOS 7.0 -
Hi, As Kenneth pointed out, a kernel of 4.9+ is required: tcp_bbr: add BBR congestion control " torvalds/linux@0f8782e " GitHub Thanks, 0
