The domain failed domain control validation - connection timed out

I am also experiencing this error with all sites on my dedicated server. 9:31:21 AM WARN The domain "example.com" failed domain control validation: The system failed to fetch the DCV (Domain Control Validation) file at "http://cpanel.domain.com/.well-known/acme-challenge/3H9FWM5T_95LHE6N83M857O9XTN6MUNP" because of an error: The system failed to send an HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) "GET" request to "http://example.com/.well-known/acme-challenge/3H9FWM5T_95LHE6N83M857O9XTN6MUNP" because of an error: Could not connect to 'cpanel.domain.com:80': Connection timed out .

  From your server, can you manually connect to 'cpanel.domain.com' over port 80? # telnet cpanel.domain.com 80
  If you see 'command not found', please install telnet first # yum -y install telnet

  To be clear, you used the actual domain with the telnet test? If so, is this a NAT server or perhaps setup on VMware? I'd recommend reaching out to your host or system administrator to determine why you can't make a connection from your server to your site IP. I know VMware has some defaults which prevent direct access from internal IP's to external IP's.
