System email from address and domain
I have a client who is running their own Exchange mail server at their premises. It's an older version of Exchange, perhaps 2008. Initially he had set up his account by pointing the A record for mail.customersdomain.com to his IP, and setting the MX record to mail.domain, however he left he mail exchanger setting on Local Mail Exchange.
This caused his Outlook clients to display an unwanted "Allow ourserver.com to automatically configure this client?" message, as a SRV record was being created pointing to our mail server.
To fix this, I changed his account to Remote Mail Exchange, which automatically removed the SRV record etc.
Up until I made that change, system emails sent to the customer were from root@outserver.com, however since that change, they are coming from cpanel@customersdomain.com
The customers Exchange server is bouncing these emails with the error "551 This mail server requires authentication before sending mail from a locally hosted domain," presumably because it is set not to accept inbound emails from it's own domain.
Is it possible to change the from address for system emails either back to root@outserver.com, or something else for this client? Or alternatively configure cPanel to provide credentials to the customers Exchange server when sending its emails for this account?

Hello @lukekenny, Support for changing the "from" address in system notifications is not offered at this time, however I encourage you to vote and add feedback on the following feature request: user@domain.tld). Alternatively, you could have the administrator of the Exchange server configure it to exclude that domain name from the specific rules preventing the delivery of email. Thank you. 0 -
Thanks for your help. The Exchange admin was able to whitelist the IP of our cPanel server, bypassing the problem. 0
