Changing the root directory for main domain

Hi there, I am new to this forum and I am not a web developer, so pls help me in simple English. My current website has WordPress installed in the public_html root directory. I built a new WordPress website in a subfolder (public_html/new) and would like to make my main domain point to this folder. I don't know where and how I can do this. Other threads have more complicated matters that I don't are applicable to my case. Do I do this in WordPress settings or through cPanel? Thanks. Existing WP directory: public_html/ New WP directory: public_html/new Temporary Domain: www.example.com/new -> Domain: www.example.com
