Force account Restore
We had a client account which had several addon and subdomains, the client changed packages a number of times and ended up on a package with no addon or sub domains allowed though they all worked and we did not ask the client to remove them. Fast forward several months and the clients requests a full back restore and its here the problem started. the cPanel restore would only restore the main domain and ignore the addon and subdomains as the restored package (we surmise) contained data showing zero allowed addon and sub domains. All attempts in WHM to overwrite existing user, delete account and restore failed to restore the addon and subdomains which contained websites and important files etc. The fix?
From a console cd to the directory containing the backup and run:
Voila !!! :) All domains and subdomains restored.
/scripts/restorepkg --force client_name.tar.gzVoila !!! :) All domains and subdomains restored.

Interesting technique and workaround. Thanks for posting. I didn't realize --force would have this effect. 0 -
