Two domains one account different document roots
Hi all,
I am after a little help please, we have 2 domains ( site1.com and site2.com ).
site1.com has multiple sub-domains which we access using site1.com/sub/system and this works great.
What we now need to do is to take site2.com/sub and point it to site1.com/sub/new_system, the new_system already exists in site1.com and is accessible from site1.com/sub/new_system.
Once complete we should be able to access the same resource whether we enter site1.com/sub/new_system or site2.com/sub.
First off, is this possible with cpanel, secondly how the hell do we do it. I have been playing with addon domains, parked domains and redirects but I am failing so thought I would seek some help.
Cheers in advance for any help and advice,
Damian

Hello Damian, Have you considered using a combination of an addon domain and subdomains as opposed to linking directly to subdirectories? For example, you could add the second domain name as an addon domain name in cPanel, and configure it's document root to the path of your preference (e.g. /home/username/public_html/directory1). Then, add a subdomain of that addon domain name using the Subdomains option in cPanel pointing to another document root of your preference (e.g. sub.addon.tld with a document root of /home/username/public_html/sub/new_system). Thank you. 0 -
Thanks for the reply, I have tried adding the new domain as an addon into the existing domain ( site2.com as an addon into site1.com ) however it is complaining stating that: "Sorry, the domain is already pointed to an IP address that does not appear to use DNS servers associated with this server." I have checked and the DNS and nameservers for both site1.com and site2.com are the same, they are both from the same company as well. Could you possibly shed some light on this issue please. 0 -
Please ignore the previous post, solved the addon domain issue, going to try the rest and will let you know the outcome, Thanks. 0
