Editors in SSH
Hello guys,
I work for a webhosting company in Kenya and there is a client on shared servers who has normal shell enabled on his account. He wants me to install vim editor for him? Can this be done on shared servers?

Hello, The VIM package should be installed by default as part of CentOS. Is it not working for the user? If not, can you verify if this system uses CloudLinux? Thank you. 0 -
Hello MICHAEL, yes the system has centOS 7 and cloudlinux OS. Its a shared server so the cpanel user is just one of the clients? What I don't know is "are they allowed to use editors such as vim, vi and nano with normal shell enabled"? Note: They do not have root access? 0 -
Why not just try opening the editor? They should have access to the editors. 0 -

Hello, Yes, individual users without root access should be able to utilize the "vim" command via SSH. Thank you.0
