CSF Error on start
Just installed CSF and went through the configuration file trying to restart and apply my changes when I see this error:
You have an unresolved error when starting csf:
Error: iptables command [/sbin/iptables --wait -v -A INPUT ! -i lo -p tcp --dport "80 -m conntrack --ctstate NEW -m recent --set --name "80] failed, at line 2774 in /usr/sbin/csf
You need to restart csf successfully to remove this warning, or delete /etc/csf/csf.error
I tried to find the iptables / CSF complete file with all the rules but I can't seem to find it.
This is the only rule preventing me from starting my firewall.
Regards,
Jacob.

Hello, Is this a VPS? If so, it might be missing a required iptables module. There's a similar thread here: Note that CSF is a third-party application. It's generally recommend to seek out support on their support forums first: 0 -
Try this: cat /etc/csf/csf.error If you are lucky the error may should tell something. And/Or If you are using blocklists or/and CC_DENY enable IP_SET. 0 -
Thank you for your replies. I found out that the versions.txt file in CSF was missing and caused the error. Putting the normal version file back fixes the error. Again a self inflicted error.. Jake. 0 -
Hello, I'm glad to see the issue is now solved. Thank you for sharing the outcome. 0
