Auto SSL failed to generate
Good afternoon,
Recently I have received following error message whey I was regenerate the SSL certificate from Cpanel.
The SSL certificate regenerated after removing the folder. Any idea why this happened? I have checked the ownership and permissions of the " .well-known" folder and everything seems to be fine.
Thank you very much

Hello, Could you let us know the contents of the .htaccess file in the document root of this website? Ensure to replace real domain names and IP addresses with examples when pasting the contents. Thank you. 0 -
Hi Michael, Thanks for your reply. The .htaccess is the Drupal 7.57 default .htaccess file: drupal 7.57 I suspect that this is not related to the contents of the .htaccess file as after I deleted the .well-known folder it was recreated during the openSSL check and seemed to be exactly the same as the folder I deleted but now the openSSL is working. No changes to the .htaccess were made. 0 -

Hello, It's possible the issue related to the ownership or permission values of the .well-known directory, but it's difficult to know for sure since it's already been deleted and re-created to solve the issue. Let us know if you notice any additional issues. Thank you.0 -
Hi Michael, Thanks agian for your reply. Do you know if there are any special requirements for the contents of the .well-known folder to be publically accessible? The ownership and permission values did not seem to change when it was deleted and re-created. I've experienced this issue multiple times now and although I have a work around I would like to understand what's going on. 0 -

Hello, Could you open a support ticket the next time this happens so we can take a closer look to see what could be leading to the 403 error code during the AutoSSL validation attempt? Thank you.0
