Dovecot FTS rescan hangs [CPANEL-19511]
Hello guys,
I recently encountered this problem, where restoring via full cPanel backup or transfer tools, the following task will take a long time to complete. It never happens before:

Rescanning mailboxes for full text search (FTS) if needed

Did anyone encounter the same recently? What can we do to either skip this or fasten it up? Due to this, restoring a 700mb CP backup takes hours, while I've been restoring even 50GB without this problem before.

Hi Infopro, Thanks. But the thing is, this happens across my servers, not only one, and not only 1 user. I have restored 5 cpmove files so far, and all of them having the same problem on different servers. Does anyone have any idea why? 0 -

Hello @d_noizeshakerz, Internal case CPANEL-19511 is open to address an issue where the doveadm_server socket file becomes unresponsive during Dovecot FTS rescans on systems using cPanel & WHM version 68. This is most noticeable during transfers and backup restorations. I'll monitor this case and update this thread again once the resolution is published (this should happen within the next few days). In the meantime, you can manually find the process ID for the rescan_user_dovecot_fts process, and then kill it to allow the transfer or the restoration process to proceed. EX: ps auxf | grep rescan_user_dovecot_fts kill $PID
Replace "$PID" with the process ID of the rescan_user_dovecot_fts process. Thank you.0 -
