Addon/Subdomain skeleton files
Hi,
I resell quite a few domain names. I've tried to figure this out, but cannot. Is there a way I can automatically provision skeleton files for addon domains/subdomains.
For example, I'd like to create a landing page for domains for sale, if I addon a domain - the skeleton files would be provisioned to include this landing page, so anyone visiting the domain would see it. I understand that a new cPanel account is provisioned this way, however, I don't intend to create a new cPanel account for each domain, this would be ridiculous.

Hi Lauren, I'm not sure. For example, when I addon a domain into my account, if I go to it (with no files in the directory) it shows the directory listing ie. / /cgi-bin and I can click into the directories. How do I make this stop and show a 404 page or some sort of default page? 0 -
Hello, If you attempt to use the skeleton directory for this does the same behavior continue? This is noted in the Web Template Editor documentation - [QUOTE]You can also place files in the skeleton directory to load a default page for new accounts. For more information, read our Skeleton Directory documentation.

I was tempted to start a new thread on this, but I found this one and figured maybe start here.... This Feature Request has been sitting for 5 years - skeleton directory for addon and sub domains I simply want my custom skel files from /root/cpanel3-skel (I have a set including custom index.html, blank robots.txt, generic favicons, and my custom 400.shtml thru 500.shtml files) to be automatically populated into any Addon Domains that user's create, just like it does for the public_html when I create a new hosting account. Will this ever become possible cPanel? 0 -
Hi @Metro2 Right now it looks like there isn't much movement on this. For the feature request, the best advice I can give you would be to vote on it and become a part of the discussion. The more interest there is in a request the more it's on our radar. Thanks! 0 -

Thank you @cPanelLauren, and I did add my vote / joined the discussion at skeleton directory for addon and sub domains before posting here. Hoping to gain some momentum from other members of the community who need this feature as much as the 18 of us who have voted for it so far.0 -
HI @Metro2 I'm glad to hear that. Someone else brought up a great idea as well today. The use of post addon domain creation hooks to achieve this in the meantime. I'm going to work on getting a walkthrough to doing this created but you're more than welcome to check out our documentation on it as well: Guide to Standardized Hooks - Developer Documentation - cPanel Documentation 0 -

I'm going to work on getting a walkthrough to doing this created but you're more than welcome to check out our documentation on it as well: Guide to Standardized Hooks - Hook Action Code - Developer Documentation - cPanel Documentation section, and it's just not straight-forward enough for me. If it were easy and straight-forward enough for some of us, there wouldn't be a 5 year old feature request still active for it ;-) Many thanks for your replies!

Thanks for that link and the time you took to put that together! I guess I'm just overly cautious, but I don't think I'm going to attempt those modifications that at this point. Still holding out hope that more people will vote for skeleton directory for addon and sub domains and that cPanel will eventually implement skel for addons and subs. 0
