Changing Primary domain name issue

I get this message "There was an error with changing your domain. Please try again later." when I try and change my primary domain name. I go thru my host to cpanel admin and then I go to my account and try to change it there.

  Hello, Can you clarify if you have root access to this server? If so, are you using "WHM >> Modify an Account" to change the domain name, or some other option? Thank you.

  Hey there, I did that (modify the domain account on the WHM) and my site is not working anymore =(
