Sync Two cPanel Servers with Different Domains?

Hi @Greg M While you can create a cluster with the two servers it is not recommended. You should not create 2-way synchronizations between web-servers. A better model would be to create one DNSonly server and set up a 1-way sync to that server from both web servers. That way you would have the backup but you wouldn't be taking the risk of having issues with the DNS records with a 2-way synchronization. We have a guide for DNS clusters which can be found here which may be helpful as well: Guide to DNS Cluster Configurations - cPanel Knowledge Base - cPanel Documentation

Hi Lauren, Thanks for the reply. I was hoping to avoid setting up a 3rd server as that would cost more money for the server even if it was a dirt cheap vps. However should I not come up with anything else I will certainly look into the DNS cluster with cpanel DNSonly. Thanks

Hello, If you do come up with another solution feel free to post here and we can let you know any potential issues or concerns there may be with it.

One alternative solution, is to look into floating IPs through e.g. Google Cloud, AWS, Vultr, Digital Ocean etc. I'm currently playing with that setup to see if it's possible, but the biggest issue is data replication in cpanel. Best Practices for Floating IP Addresses "|" Compute Engine Documentation "|" Google Cloud The only alternative is to choose a host with 100% uptime - but I don't think it's really possible!?

Afternoon, I would like a suggestion I was thinking about the same thing, but in a different way. I have 2 whm server's one has been in production for a while and has a lot of websites on it and I had a second one built as a full whm server that I only have 1 client on right now that I migrated from a different host. Is it possible to have the dns servers in the cluster manually synch dns zones that you want by configuring them in stand alone instead of synchronize changes? Ideally I would love to have the ability to have the 2 servers redundant to each other, but I have yet to find a clean way of doing that.

You can have them sync but it won't be just select zones, DNS clustering implemented through cPanel will automatically synchronize all zones on the server.
