Development cPanel Server
Currently we have a local development server running on Windows (yuck). It's reeeeally holding us back. I know we need to go to linux, so the seemingly obvious route is to mimic our live setup with CloudLinux and cPanel.
Has anyone setup local cPanel servers or tried?
With our live servers, our data center setup CL and CP, but then I did a lot of the configuration myself. So I have a bit of know-how, but I'm sure there are some "gotchya" things I don't know about. The one thing is the cPanel license being per IP. I only have 1 dedicated IP so I can only have 1 local server. But that should be fine. Just looking for some general guidance. Thanks.

Hello @rinkleton, There setup requirements are mostly the same as a standard cPanel & WHM installation, though some additional information on this topic is available on the following thread: That post about using an unmanaged switch says to connect the servers in a way that they aren't behind the router and to give them a static IP. I assume that means assign them the public static IP? Which would still be predicated on your IPS and modem being able to give you and handle multiple IPs, correct?

Hello, Yes, that is correct. Though, you could reach out to your ISP to see if they offer a static IP address to use for such purposes. Thank you.0
