Configure return path/sender in PHP mail() scripts?

Hi Forum I'm sure this is an old chestnut but I would welcome any thoughts. I would like to configure the return path/sender in PHP mail() scripts to avoid mail sent from the server going into spam. Plesk allows me to do it: support.plesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000419013-What-is-the-return-path-sender-in-PHP-mail-scripts-and-how-to-change-it But if my WordPress website is hosted on cPanel I cannot. Sure I could install a WordPress Plugin to send via SMTP but that seems a but drastic. Are cPanel and WordPress letting us down in this regard? Thanks
