Version 70 - First Impressions

Love

• The new country codes in cPHulk

Like

• The new Email accounts interface
• The new Email suspension options (but would like to see something that the server admin or reseller can set and the user can't then change)
• Re-index of IMAP Full text search (but how to access it is not at all clear to the user) - Perhaps this control needs to be relocated ?
• Global options to disable AutoSSL notifications - not before time :)
• Spam threshold for an individual email account - same problem for the user finding them - maybe this should be in the Actions section of the Email Accounts page in addition to the webmail interface ?

Irritated

• The File Restoration does not work if:

which I understand, but even if one mounts the backup drive, the error still shows. Perhaps this would be better served by the following logic: Is backup drive mounted ? YES - display File Restoration options NO - display error message about unmounted drive

• Change Log seems to have got stuck at 70.0.26
• Clamav/clamd is shown as being 0.99.2-2 in the Service Information page, and as being 0.99.4-2.cp1170 in the cPanel Manage Plugins page, and it is disappointing that the latest version 0.100.0 was not included.

Hate

• The warning about the OS depreciation on the home page
• The ridiculous section in the MultiPHP Manager attempting to get me to install all the php fpm (which I don't use, and don't want, as I use alt-php and lsapi)

These warnings desperately need some for of admin interface to control them. Overall, version 70 looks quite polished and well thought out and polished. I am sure that user feedback will help define any changes that should be addressed before version 72 lands.

  I believe this may be related to a case opened recently DOC-10741 where the RSS feeds and WHM Changelogs weren't updating properly and we are aware of the issue. They are still available at

  • Clamav/clamd is shown as being 0.99.2-2 in the Service Information page, and as being 0.99.4-2.cp1170 in the cPanel Manage Plugins page, and it is disappointing that the latest version 0.100.0 was not included.

  
  There is a forums thread that discusses the version issue with ClamAV here: As far as the newest version of ClamAV not being present we did open an internal case a few days ago to get this resolved CPANEL-20276

  I am puzzled as to how a hard drive, physically present and installed in the same server box, and just mounted and unmounted by the backup routine is regarded as a 'remote' location ? I have tried opening feature requests before - they sat waiting for so long for moderation approval until it was guaranteed that they would be so far down the list of requests that they would never be seen by anyone - clever manipulation :( I wish I hadn't bothered to try and be supportive and constructive, if all I am going to get is canned, politically correct, replies.

  This is because of the potential to add network file systems which are present when mounted but not truly connected to the server. I'm sorry that you feel my response was a canned response, that truly wasn't my intention at all. I just wanted to let you know that the items you had concerns about were items that I researched and found we the same concerns. We appreciate the review of v70, very much and had I not found the internal cases I did to share with you, I would have opened them myself. As far as opening a feature request, I do know that we have a dedicated team of Community Managers who are responsible for the feature request site and every feature request gets looked at. I don't know how long ago you tried to open a request but I can assure you that we are committed to ensuring the community is heard.
