Update does not exit cleanly with code 65280
Hello,
I've been unable to run any updates on my server for the past few days. Whenever I try to run an update I get the following output:
So the log reports 2 things that worry me and were not present before upgrading to 11.70

So the log reports 2 things that worry me and were not present before upgrading to 11.70
- one is "/etc/host.conf: line 3: bad command `nospoof on'" which is weird as it appears on other scripts as well. However the update script is the one that eventually does not run. Other scripts that display that notification run without issues
- the other is: "FATAL: Failed to download updatenow.static from server: The system cannot update the /var/cpanel/sysinfo.config file. at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/GenSysInfo.pm line 113.". The code about it "did not exit cleanly" is 65280...

Oh my God... that seems to work... It's updating now which is way better than what I was able to do. I just added a "#" in front of the nospoof command in /etc/host.conf and the update run as it should But the thread you sent me is 5 years old. My VPS is nowhere that old. Which means that I used to have nospoof there since the beginning. How did that change occur and nospoof suddenly became unsupported? 0 -

That post is from May 5, 2018. If you click thru to the RedHat portal you'll note the report date there is from May this year as well.0 -
Ah... sorry for that. I looked at the date very hastily and misread it. The update on my VPS completed properly without errors. I'm now at 11.70.42 Thank you for your help. When a solution to a problem that lasted for days is so simple it's hard to believe that it would work in the first place :) 0 -
Happy to help. :) 0
