emails to non existent account still coming through
Hi,
I've recently added a load of addon domains to my account and placed landing pages on them as I have quite a large domain portfolio, however I keep getting spam to the main default email account through these addon domains People sending emails to XXXX@domain.co.uk.
I tried to disable emails from non-existent emails with setting Initial default/catch-all forwarder destination to fail in WHM but it hasn't worked?

Hi @inteldigital If you go to cPanel>>Email>>Default Adress what do you have set for unrouted mail for the domains? You can use the drop-down to change this to "Discard the email while your server processes it by SMTP time with an error message" Documentation on this page can be found here Default Address - Version 68 Documentation - cPanel Documentation Thanks! 0 -
@cPanelLauren Hi Lauren, thanks. I did try that to begin with, but because I have such a large amount of addon domains I decided to enable it globally in WHM. Do I have to enable it for every single domain in Default Address? 0 -
Hi @inteldigital The setting Initial default/catch-all forwarder destination should be set prior to the account being created as it will just default to Fail or Blackhole when the account is created. Did you happen to know if you set it before or after? If after, yes, unfortunately it'll need to be done per account. Thanks! 0 -
@cPanelLauren - unfortunately it was done after! Thanks! I will set it up manually on existing domains and since it is now activated in WHM it should take effect on future addons, correct? 0 -
Hi Ben, Yes, it should default all new domains to that setting so you won't have to do that again. I'm sorry! Thanks! 0
