Backups via FTP on destination server are compressed files
Hello,
I have a cPanel & WHM version 68.0.36. I have set up backup configuration, to save a backup locally on machine and to send backup via FTP on other machine.
I have notice that backup is not same.
On local machine I have
[root@cpanel backup]# ls -la 2018-06-05
drwx--x--x 4 root root 36 Lip 5 13:59 .
drwx--x--x. 6 root root 78 Lip 5 13:58 ..
drwx--x--x 2 root root 4096 Lip 5 14:03 accounts
drwx--x--x 4 root root 31 Lip 5 13:58 system
[root@cpanel 2018-06-05]# ls -la system/
drwx--x--x 4 root root 31 Lip 5 13:58 .
drwx--x--x 4 root root 36 Lip 5 13:59 ..
drwx------ 2 root root 4096 Lip 5 13:59 dirs
drwx------ 2 root root 4096 Lip 5 13:58 files
On the destination machine I have
[root@cl1 backup]# ls -la 2018-06-05/system/
total 194936
drwxr-xr-x 2 backup www 4096 Jun 5 13:59 .
drwxr-xr-x 4 backup www 4096 Jun 5 13:59 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 backup www 199403520 Jun 5 13:59 system_files.tar
In mails from cpanel I do not see any errors in backup process.
Why is that so?
Best regards,
Elizabeta

Hello @Elizabeta, That looks normal. The backup script uploads a .tar file that contains all of the system backup files to each destination that you configure to receive system backups. This is documented at: System Backups - Version 70 Documentation - cPanel Documentation Thank you. 0 -
Hello @Elizabeta, You're very welcome. I've moved your second question into it's own thread at: You should receive a response to the new thread shortly. Thanks! 0 -
