Change domain ownership
If I added a DNS Zone manually in WHM but forgot to set the user, can just change it in /etc/userdomains from
to
. So that the domain appears in somebody's cPanel account ? Only for managing the Zone, nothing else.
somedomain.com: nobodyto
somedomain.com: somebody. So that the domain appears in somebody's cPanel account ? Only for managing the Zone, nothing else.

Hello @kawasakai, You should remove the "DNS=" entry for that domain name from the /var/cpanel/users/system file first, and then add a "DNS1=" entry to the /var/cpanel/users/$username file. The number "1" on the new DNS= line in the user file may need to be a higher number if that account already uses multiple domains. Once you make the change, run the following command: /scripts/updateuserdomains
Note that generally the better approach is to make note of any custom changes to the zone, delete it, and then add it back with ownership set to the cPanel account. Thank you.0 -
Did that, now i got "You do not possess permission to read the zone for somezone.tld" when trying to edit the zone in cPanel. Any idea? 0
