MySQL 5.6 EOL date
Hi Guys,
I don't have a problem with it, but I'm curious why in "Home "Software "MySQL/MariaDB Upgrade" it has that MySQL 5.6 is EOL February 28, 2018.
Can someone link me the official EOL announcement by Oracle?
Wikipedia have the EOL as February 2021
MySQL - Wikipedia
Is cPanel no longer supporting that version before it's officially EOL?

On another note. Is the process in "Home "Software "MySQL/MariaDB Upgrade" able to be run by SSH? 0 -
Hi @plesk4lyf It looks like support for it does end in 2018 per MySQL - support versions through end of Oracle's extended support date so not forced to upgrade 0 -
Hi @cPanelLauren Thank you for the link! Do you happen to know if the "Home "Software "MySQL/MariaDB Upgrade" process is able to be run by SSH? 0 -
Hi @plesk4lyf I'm sorry I didn't answer that before, you can definitely do this with WHMAPI1: To view available versions: WHM API 1 Functions - installable_mysql_versions - Developer Documentation - cPanel Documentation To start the update: WHM API 1 Functions - start_background_mysql_upgrade - Developer Documentation - cPanel Documentation To view the status: WHM API 1 Functions - background_mysql_upgrade_status - Developer Documentation - cPanel Documentation 0 -
Thanks, you're the best @cPanelLauren! 0 -
Thanks @plesk4lyf :-D You're most welcome! 0 -
Hey @cPanelLauren I just noticed that cPanel now has the expiry date of MySQL 5.6 as February 5, 2021. It's inline with with "Extended Support End". The blog post yesterday doesn't mention the changed date: Upgrading MySQL or MariaDB | cPanel Blog Is that what the "Fix" was here? - Fixed case CPANEL-24442: Corrected EOL date for MariaDB/MySQL. Sounds like @cPanelBenny can finally update that feature request! MySQL - support versions through end of Oracle's extended support date so not forced to upgrade 0 -
* Correction I meant the blog post doesn't mention that the date changed. 0
