ftp.hostname.com not resolving

I have WHM/CPanel setup on a linode slice. So I do not have an administrator to turn to. When I ping my hostname such as ping hostname.com, it resolves just fine. When I ping ftp.hostname.com is does not resolve. Any idea what the quick fix is? Thanks for your time.

  Do you use cloudflare?

  No. I do not use cloudflare. I'm running CentOS 7.5 with WHM/Cpanel v72.0.7

  HI @nicholtl2 Do your nameservers point to the server or is DNS hosted elsewhere? If DNS is hosted elsewhere you'll need to add the subdomain A record where DNS is hosted. If it is hosted locally when you go to WHM>>DNS Functions>>Edit DNS Zone and select the DNS zone for the domain is the A record for ftp.domain.tld present? Thanks!
