Set up a reverse DNS on the hostname?
Hello,
I have a cpanel server or several clients are installed on it.
He has a hostname and an ip dedicated to him.
I can not set up a DNS reverse on this IP, so that when it returns the hostname of my cpanel server.
I made several changes to the server, for example by creating a DNS zone for my hostname and adding fields to it: PTR
without success.
Could you tell me how this can be put in place? if it is possible to do this action.

Hello @gildas The PTR records are managed by the provider who controls the IP. Sometimes the datacenter will give you an interface where you can edit the PTR records. Being said that, rarely, the upstream provider will give access to the IP's DNS records to the client as well. In such case, you can manage the PTR records from WHM itself. Again, chances are very very rare. Its best to open a support ticket with your upstream provider regarding the PTR records and they would be able to help. 0 -
Hi @gildas As suggested by @SS-Maddy this is best handled through your provider as even if they do delegate access to this to you they may have their own interface they'd like you to make these modifications in. If on the off chance they do delegate this access to you and you can add them from your server the following documentation may be useful: How to Configure Reverse DNS for BIND in WHM - cPanel Knowledge Base - cPanel Documentation Thanks! 0
