i even tried th sh latest --force but still the same error appears

  Hi @Ikeji Can you give me the results of the following: stat /usr/local/cpanel stat /var/cpanel

  why do you want to use CentOS 6? as on November 30, 2020, CentOS will stop supporting CentOS 6, pointless to use for two years only.
