I do believe the OP meant the cpanel partner/distributor issuing the licenses just cancel your license and get a new license . on many Occasions cpanel will instagate change of license on your behalf if the old provider is still has the license active. But make sure you cancel the billing as cpanel has no control over that

Yes thanks dalem, i got a dedicated server and ordered a cpanel license with it so they could install it all the same time. But as i said im not happy having to go thru the cpanel reseller for tech support.. So my question is this, if i cancel the cpanel license with my dedicated company and get a license directly with cpanel, is it just a license change of the ip, i dont want to have to wipe my server and have to install it all over again. So when i buy it from cpanel i will put in my info and it will just change the license without any interuption correct?

oh ok, he said reseller so I did not figure dedicated server. Maybe they have already did the license for you, you can check by entering the IP here: cPanel & WHM License Verification | cPanel Inc. if it is not active you would have to do what dalem suggested. If it is active you just need to log into root and run the following command: /usr/local/cpanel/cpkeyclt

you do not have to wipe the server its just a License/package exchange Note: not quite sure what the issue is with your cpanel provider as they have direct access to priority support with cpanel (for direct cpanel issues) if they are a partner/distributor Cpanel does expect its partners to handle regular server maintenance (issues not related to cpanel). I know from a some our past clients they were trying circumvent paying management fees on umanaged servers expecting cpanel to become their management company. If this is the case cpanel will send you back to you provider for such issues.

I was not happy because they (reseller tech) didnt seem to know what they were doing and i am server dumb so if i get that feeling then something is wrong. Then it appeared to be fixed so i ask them what they did to fix it so i dont make the same mistake again and i can learn. They said "no changes here" and im like huh... that does not make sense. So then as soon as the ticket was closed i tried it again and it was broke again.. When i got on with direct cPanel tech he found it right away it was a cypher issue... and i was able to fix it with the help of my mail client. So i spoke with my server host and they said i could move the license its not that hard to change it but i can just go directly to cpanel if i want help because they always do. And since after a while when the server is humming and tweaked, the calls for service will be very few and far between. So i told them i would stay with them... I dont feel good about doing it that way because i dont want to make anyone mad but they said it was fine..
