Path to domain specific SSL certificate
Dear friends @ cPanel,
I need to access the specific files for a domain specific SSL certificate, its private key and CA bundle.
For several reasons I need to do this from command line.
I am not referring to the self-signed certificate, but the commercial certificate the customer has installed himself.
I know that there are files in home/user/ssl but I am sure I saw once the certificate installed also somewhere else that is only accessible at root level.
Can you please assist me with this?
Thanks!

Hello @Ganga, The directory you are looking for is located at: /var/cpanel/ssl/apache_tls/$domain.tld/ You may also find the following WHM API 1 and UAPI functions helpful: WHM API 1 Functions - fetch_ssl_certificates_for_fqdns - Developer Documentation - cPanel Documentation UAPI Functions - SSL::installed_host - Developer Documentation - cPanel Documentation Thank you. 0 -
Thanks @cPanelMichael ! However I can only see the certificate file, the private key file and the ca bundle are missing. Are this stored elsewhere on cPanel outside of the /home/USER dir? In other words, I would like to understand each time a certificate is installed, exactly WHICH FILES in the entire cPanel installation are affected and where cert, key and ca bundle are saved outside of the /home/USER dir. Thanks for your help. 0 -
Hello @Ganga, Did you check the directory referenced in my previous response? /var/cpanel/ssl/apache_tls/$domain.tld/ Thank you. 0 -
Hi All This topic comes up as the #1 search result for "cpanel file location ssl certificate" or similar, but the detail here is (was) incomplete. The /var/cpanel/ssl/apache_tls/$domain.tld/ provides only the certificate or certificate bundle and not the location of the private key. All the relevant files, certs, keys, etc. appear to be available in the /home/USER/ssl directory Hope this helps. 1 -
Thank you a lot for both answers to thowden and cPanelMichael. You helped me a lot with the SSL installation check 🙏
