[CPANEL-23289] composer self-update vs cPanel version control
composer self-update vs cPanel version control
cPanel Version: 74.0 (build 8)
Apache Version: 2.4.34
PHP Version: 7.0.32
MySQL Version: 10.1.36-MariaDB
Architecture: x86_64
Operating System: linux
and I am using PHP version: 7.1 (ea-php71)
and composer 1.6.2 provided by cPanel
Is there any way a conflict would occur when cPanel does finally provide the updated versions of composer later?
-
Hello @fndnt357 If you're using the cPanel provided RPM when a newer version is provided there should be no conflicts. 0 -

I was going to create my own thread, but this was a "similar thread" so I figured I would add here. Why is the cPanel provided Composer installation not updated with cPanel? The current composer version installed with cP is: Composer version 1.6.2 2018-01-05 15:28:41 while the current available version is Composer version 1.7.2 2018-08-16 16:57:12 Is there a reason for this?0 -
HI @CanadaGuy We update the packages once we've ensured compatibility with the rest of the system for all of the packages we offer. That being said I do see CPANEL-23289 open to get it updated to v1.7 and I've checked with the responsible team - it is on their radar to get completed. I can update here once it's done as well. 0 -

Hmm, okay yes that would be helpful. If I understand correctly moving forward, composer is updated normally as part of the regular update process? Or that only happens a few times a year or some other schedule?0 -
Hi @CanadaGuy That really depends on when they update as well as how well that corresponds to when we do, I can't really answer that in terms of a specific schedule. If that comes about as part of the case I'll add details to that effect here as well. Thanks! 0 -
