WHM API 1 getdiskusage - Permission problem

Hi Guys, I'm looping though an array of cPanel servers using API 1 to get the disk usage with getdiskusage. Essentially I want to create new accounts on the server with the lowest percent disk space usage. This API call only works if I enable root access on my API token which doesn't seem to be a good idea. Can anyone suggest how I can either grant this specific permission or obtain the info in a different way?
