Edit valiases, not showing up in cPanel

Hi there I am trying to delete a lot of aliases from my cpanel account. Rather than do this manually I thought I would try editing the valiases file. /etc/valiases/{domain} I'm just doing a quick test as I have not done this before, so I edited one line to slightly change the forwarding address. Save it, and use cat {domain} to check the change has been made. But the change is not reflected in the cpanel interface, and if I download the backup aliases file, it's not reflecting the change either. Is there something I need to do to force the changes to be recognized. Thank you Brett

  Never mind. I needed to log in as root.
