cPanel installation start up fail
I have WHM running on CentOS 6. The WHM install has died after an update to 74 and will not restart. It seems it requires another version of Perl perhaps?

Hi @Yadda123456 Due to the specific nature of the error can you please open a ticket using the link in my signature. That way we can access the server to determine what went wrong in this specific instance. Once the ticket is open please reply here with the ticket ID so we can update this thread with the outcome. Thanks! 0 -
I have googled the problem and it is not unique, nor uncommon. It is very common that your software breaks after updates. Has been very common for years. I am paying for this poorly designed software and I am unfortunately stuck with it for now. I will submit the ticket. I will fix what I need to fix then I will defiantly be looking for another product. This will be the second time I have had to go through hoops after updating your software. Great... Your own bug tracker software is horribly broken as well. 503? Seriously guys... fix your ****. 0 -

The specific issue you're experiencing is uncommon, I've also searched our internal ticket system to see if we've had any reports of the specific error you're getting and came back with nothing having been reported. With that being said, it's why I asked you to open a ticket initially. I do want to stress if you don't report issues such as this to us we have no way to make it better. Furthermore, I want to note that extensive work goes into making cPanel a product that is reliable and useful for our many users every release. It is the nature of software to have issues when updates are released, while we rigorously test the software before it goes to edge, then again in the real world when it goes to EDGE, there are always going to be issues that just don't get seen. This is true of any software you use. Once an issue is reported we do our best to address it expediently. If you feel that there's a specific part of the software that could be improved please open a feature request using the link in my signature we do want to hear about itGreat... Your own bug tracker software is horribly broken as well. 503?
What are you referencing here? If you're referencing the ticket system I've not been able to replicate an issue with it but I will report it to our system administrators. Please try again and let me know if you're still experiencing an issue. Thank you.0 -
I am not arguing. I am telling. The problem I am experiencing is not an uncommon problem. I am experiencing your software breaking after a minor upgrade. Lots of people are having that issue. Mean while, I've experienced an outage of your product for four days because there is no fallback in case these things happen (which happens a LOT). I'm still experiencing an outage of your product till you guys "fix" it. Give us a fall back. Let us be able to downgrade. Seems many other products allow customers to do that. Your support system doesn't even work regularly. 0 -

What would you fall back to exactly, an earlier version of Perl? I've just done some google seaching myself and am unable to locate the lots of people having this issue you mention. Could you please link me to some of those issues you came across in your searches, for reference here? As for being down for 4 days, that's simply not acceptable, I agree with you. Still, If an update to the product caused this sort of thing on any of my servers, my first thought would be to open a ticket directly to cPanel's Expert Technical Suppoort team to take a look and sort it out for me. Do you have a ticket open we can check on for you?0 -
I have been using cPanel for over 5 years now and whilst I have sometimes disagreed with how new features were implemented, I have never experienced an outage caused by a major upgrade, let alone a minor one ! Even features that were scheduled for depreciation and removal were documented months - sometimes years - in advance, leaving everyone adequate time to plan ahead and make any necessary changes to their configurations and set-ups. Honestly, the only complaints I recall having seen on this forum over the past few years were from sever operators who had either elected to install non cPanel supported software or configurations, or who were running on environments with so limited resources as to make even the simplest of maintenance task a nightmare. I hope you sort your issues out promptly, and look forward to seeing what cPanel support answer to your support request. 0 -
I would have to concur. I've been running cPanel servers for over 15 years across hundreds of servers and it is exceptionally rare to see an upgrade that causes an outage. I can't think of a single time that we had an issue that it wasn't because of something unusual that was done with the server outside of the cPanel environment that caused the problem. 0 -
The bug tracker system does not work. I visited the link for it several times and the server throws a 503 error. Not much to duplicate... As for outages and breaks on google... There are plenty. All I want it is to roll back the WHM software to one that works. Either that or I am canceling the subscription and using webmin... 0 -
