can't view or modify .htaccess file

Hi there! Since few days i can not view or open the .htaccess file in the public_html folder of my site. I receive a warning : Error HTTP 401. Security Token not valid ... and so on Anyone can help ? Thanks in advance ! Matteo

  Are you attempting to view the file via cPanel File Manager?

  While you've got the File Manager open in your browser, look at the top right corner of the page for a button titled "Settings". If you click that there is an option titled "Show Hidden Files (dotfiles)" make sure that's enabled. The .htaccess is a "dot" file and is hidden from view if this option is unticked.

  yes i know. It's enabled. I can see it in th folder but can't "edit" or "view"! (thank you for your reply)

  Is it just this one file, or any file in your public_html?

  yes it appens only for .htaccess file. No other problems. I can edit all other pages (htm or php)...

  Are you able to rename it to something else, like .htaccess.txt for example just to test that you can do anything with it? If not, you might need to speak with your Hosting Provider to check owner on this file.
