Updating CentOS to Cloudlinux?
Hello.
I have a server with Centos 7.5 + cPanel 74.0.10 (a VPS on vmware environment)
I'm evaluating to update it to Cloudlinux, but the "how to" I find about it seems "too nice to be true": i.e. according to CloudLinux - Main | New template the update is a snap, a sort of click-go-done operation...
My experience says that no magic wand exists, and the lacking of any warning, caveat and so on makes me fear about the operation.
So, I'm here to ask: is it really so simple and plain the migration?
Any possible issue?
Real, previous experiences?
Working in vmware environment, what do you suggest?
I.e.: making a snapshot in vmware, running the update process, and if anything did not worked rolling back to the snapshot?

Hello @Remitur Yes, it's a magic wand operation and trust me, the update / switch from CentOS to cPanel is easy, though not as easy as installing cPanel on a centOS server. And in my experience, the update has a success rate of 99.9%. Occasionally, due to the network issues or so (to the repository etc), you may have issues. You have the snapshot option to rollback as well, so nothing to worry. It works. 0 -
Indeed its Painless have done it dozens of times without issue Make sure you add the wanted/needed extras I recommend CageFS/alt-php & LSAPI at a minimum 0 -
I concur with @dalem and @SS-Maddy Cloudlinux has done a really brilliant job of making the whole process easy. @Remitur if you do end up experiencing any issues please let us know! 0 -
I confirm: the update has been easy, quick, effortless. I didn't think something like that was even possible... :D Thanks to @dalem, @SS-Maddy and @cPanelLauren !!!! 0
