Backup to other HDD
Hello,
We have 2 SSD in raid 1 setup and 1 seperate HDD for backups. I would like WHM to place the backups on that drive but i cannot get it to work. Can someone tell me how to setup WHM to do this?
/dev/sdc1 which is mounted as /backuphdd
Thank you

Hello @kalebam, Can you let us know of any output to the individual backup logs in the /local/cpanel/logs/cpbackup/ directory when backups run after you've defined the backup destination as the directory path of the separate drive? Also, please post the contents of the /var/cpanel/backups/config file here so we can see how backups are configured. Thank you. 0 -
Problem is I don't know what to fill out at backup destination? So backup has not yet attempted Whenever i fill out /dev/sdc1 or /backuphdd it says it has to be a relative path. Should i umount the hdd and mount it as /home/backuphdd for example and then use /home/backuphdd or can i use the current mount? 0 -
It does now seem to make the backups to the seperate drive, however i still get an error message that transport has failed. config file: --- BACKUPACCTS: 'yes' BACKUPBWDATA: 'yes' BACKUPDAYS: 0,1,2,3,4,5,6 BACKUPDIR: /backuphdd BACKUPENABLE: 'yes' BACKUPFILES: 'yes' BACKUPLOGS: 'no' BACKUPMOUNT: 'yes' BACKUPSUSPENDEDACCTS: 'no' BACKUPTYPE: uncompressed BACKUP_DAILY_ENABLE: 'yes' BACKUP_DAILY_RETENTION: 5 BACKUP_MONTHLY_DATES: 1 BACKUP_MONTHLY_ENABLE: 'no' BACKUP_MONTHLY_RETENTION: 1 BACKUP_WEEKLY_DAY: 0 BACKUP_WEEKLY_ENABLE: 'no' BACKUP_WEEKLY_RETENTION: 4 CHECK_MIN_FREE_SPACE: 1 DISABLE_METADATA: 'no' ERRORTHRESHHOLD: 3 FORCE_PRUNE_DAILY: 0 FORCE_PRUNE_MONTHLY: 0 FORCE_PRUNE_WEEKLY: 0 GZIPRSYNCOPTS: --rsyncable KEEPLOCAL: 1 LINKDEST: 0 LOCALZONESONLY: 'no' MAXIMUM_RESTORE_TIMEOUT: 21600 MAXIMUM_TIMEOUT: 7200 MIN_FREE_SPACE: 5 MIN_FREE_SPACE_UNIT: percent MYSQLBACKUP: accounts POSTBACKUP: 'no' PREBACKUP: -1 PSQLBACKUP: 'no'

Hello @kalebam, The above quote is correct. If you're storing the backups locally, you don't need to configure a remote destination. Thank you.0
