Backup Issue
Hi,
Our current setup is 2 SSD in raid 1 and 1 separate HDD for backups, If the backup HDD fails for whatever reason then it proceeds to make a /backup mount on my primary raid drive and ultimately ends up filling up my drive and breaking the the server. Is there any way to stop it from functioning like this? I also confirmed that I do have the option " Mount Backup Drive as Needed" unchecked.

Actually if you check that option and the drive is not able to be mounted then I don't think the backups will run, but someone else can verify that, I don't normally use that option. 0 -

This setting does the following: [QUOTE] Mount Backup Drive as Needed. Select Enable to mount a backup drive. This setting requires a separate mount point and causes the Backup Configuration process to check the /etc/fstab file for a backup mount. If a mount exists with the same name as the staging directory, the Backup Configuration process mounts the drive and backs up the information to the mount. After the backup process completes, the system dismounts the drive. If you select Disable, the Backup Configuration process does not check the /etc/fstab file for a mount.
Which may be useful in the situation you have. Is there a reason you've disabled it specifically? If the backup HDD fails for whatever reason then it proceeds to make a /backup mount on my primary raid drive and ultimately ends up filling up my drive and breaking the server
This is pretty standard behavior, you can enable Strictly Enforce retention so in the event that the backup doesn't get transported the retention settings will carry on normally and backups will be pruned but be aware if you use this and there is a problem with the transport at any given time you could be without backups. Information on this setting as well as all of the backup configuration settings can be found here: Backup Configuration - Version 76 Documentation - cPanel Documentation0
