I have not installed any custom themes, and only use the default WHM and Paper Lantern themes. ***EDIT*** Most of the files in these theme folders seem to be back from 2016 (although there are some files that were written today, perhaps as the result of an upcp.) Yes, it does exist, the server is build on 11/2013, so perhaps you don't know about that? Never installed anything else than cPanel, no themes nothing, just plain cPanel as it does give enough trouble on his own, it is very bad the last 2 years. The problem with cPanel is that it just doesn't care to clean up behind you, there is so much lefts over. I bet you don't know because users just install a new cpanel server to get rid of the history and pain, and yes I am very frustrated indeed. 0 -
Hi @rpvw and @Wabun Those seem to be associated with x3 and x3mail both of which should have been removed in the cleanup after x3 was removed from the product. New installs don't have these installed automatically anymore. I'm wondering what's present in the x3 folder, can you show me an ls -lah
Also checking a colleague's server that's been around since 2009 he's got the remnant folders but not the errors so before I can open a case I need to know what's causing it, i'm hoping the contents of the directory will be helpful. Another thing that may be useful is output ofls -lah /var/cpanel/updatelogs

As far as when the error first started, I have been aware of it for as long as I can remember, but as they weren't causing any issues apart from adding log entries, I ignored them and hoped one day cPanel would make them go away :-p I don't know if it's relevant, but this is what I see on the WHM >> Themes >> Theme Manager page I was always hoping I'd see a delete option one day on that interface !0 -

I was hoping if none of that data had been modified/touched since then that it might be ok to remove those directories but I am curious now. Do both or either of you have custom branding added? @Wabun you noted that your cPanel error log was "huge" this makes me curious for a couple of reasons:- How many instances of the noted error are appearing in the log? You can find this out by running something like:
grep "This is exceeding 8192 pixels " /usr/local/cpanel/logs/error_log |wc -l[/CODE Why has your cPanel error log not been rotated out? cpanellogd handles rotation of cPanel specific error logs and depending on the constraints you've set for this should be rotating this log file out in regular intervals to ensure it doesn't get too large. I'd advise checking in at WHM>>Service Configuration>>cPanel Log Rotation Configuration

Only customization is in public contact company name and website, in Branding, company name. I have removed that information. @Wabun in your instance even if we had removed them because you've renamed x3 and x3mail to YES and NO we wouldn't have removed those either way because they're being seen as custom. Not sure about this, again, I have always kept cpanel as it was... trouble enough it gives.... 0 -
Hi @Wabun And how large is the error_log if the initial issue was that it was huge you can limit the size of it by modifying WHM>>Server Configuration>>Tweak Settings -> Log Rotation Size threshold As far as resolving the issue with the error I believe that removing those directories would be the solution but I would like to see you open a ticket so that we can take a closer look and ensure that it will be non-problematic.
