About server costs
I have been recently helping take over a movie forum I've been posting on the last decade+. I have been able to do what I want to in terms of the content, but have no clue when it comes to the pricing system and how to make it cheaper.
The current owners are paying 91 a month for the website and forum. It has 2 million old posts but the traffic has gone way down since its most active days. These days it only has about 50 new posts a day however the users would like to keep the old posts as history. I had been assuming at this point hosting the old posts was the main source of the coster.
I noticed that the bandwidth limit for the forum is ridiculously higher than what it needs. It used 467 meg last month out of 1000 Gig for 1% usage. If I reduced the bandwidth would this reduce the cost of the server? Or do I need to look into moving to a different server entirely?

You would have to ask the DC provider about that, but in general I would say that no, they don't normally reduce costs for lower BW. Mot providers have more BW than they need and as such, reducing the allotment to the server does not actually lower their costs at all. Buy, again, you would have to ask the provider. 0 -
Yes likely its more of the resource usage than the the Bandwidth usage & Got is correct its not the BW used but the Mbs that is how us DC folks get billed. If you provided more detail on the server resources used and needed you could look to reducing your costs with a smaller server. 0 -
Hello @Shack1212, I recommend sending sales inquiries to a few different providers. Explain the situation and ask for their advice on what type of server package or plan is recommended. You can find a list of cPanel Partners at: The Hosting Platform of Choice | cPanel, L.L.C. Thanks! 0
