POP3 Email Failing

Well the problem is with all the mail clients and viewers I have tried. It looks like mailtraq is also dead in the water. I have tried thunderbird and it connected instantly. I am now looking for a new free mailserver....any suggestions appreciated. It would seem the latest email protocols cant handle existing older pop3 collections from mailtraq or many other viewers. It seems like there is nothing that can be done in Cpanel to allow these programs to collect pop3 mail sadly. I would have liked to have worked out exactly why they cant collect, or view ,for my own inquisitive mind but I have too much on currently to waste time on finding out why. Thanks for your assistance.

Hi @ukracer What I assume is occurring here is that your new server doesn't accept any of the older SSL protocols in favor of TLS. This was something we changed for new installs several versions ago because of security concerns with SSL protocols. While not recommended it is possible to allow connections to the server using SSL but you wouldn't be able to make these modifications without root level access to WHM. I'd suggest talking to your provider about the possibility of changing this

Thanks for the reply Lauren. I am now happy its a deliberate intention not something wrong. So as I really need to switch from mailtraq as its no longer supported I will look into finding another free email server that will allow the use of IMAP. Its just a shame my new hosts were not able to tell me that information. :( Thanks for your time. Regards Andy T

Hi @ukracer More than likely what's happening is mailtraq is using SSL for encrypted connections. You might try to use a non-encrypted connection (this will be insecure and not necessarily recommended) or you could see if there's an update for the software? I've actually never heard of it before but from their site, it looks like their latest version is 2.17.7 and it looks like it also supports IMAP. You might check with them beforehand though, as IMAP or POP3 won't matter if they don't use the TLS protocol.
