Default email account disk usage
Hi
One of the accounts on our cPanel server had the default address enabled as a catchall and therefore it had 4GB of mail in it.
The customer has cleaned the account so that it is now completely empty and when we click "Manage disk space" it shows that there is nothing in the account. Accessing webmail also confirms this.
However, cPanel still reports 4GB of used space and this is also counted against the customers quota.
Cleaning was done yesterday, so there should have been plenty of time for any caching to update.
We have also tried to run WebHost Manager "Email "Repair Mailbox Permissions, and nothing changed
Why is it that we still see high disk usage for the default account when it is in fact empty?

I guess in that case you need try and run /scripts/fixquotas to fix this problem. This will require root access. 0 -
@webhostuk I just tried running /scripts/fixquotas as root. No errors showed when it was running and also still no change. Maybe I should try contacing the WHM/cPanel support team to figure out why this is not changing? 0 -
Did you check the trash for that folder? You don't say how he cleared out the box, but if he used IMAP or Webmail, they may have simply been moved to the trash folder. In shell, go to /home/user/mail and run du -h --max=1 That will show you the exact folders and how much space they are taking up. 0 -
I'd do exactly as suggested by @GOT 1. Check the trash - depending on how he removed the mail it could be sitting in the trash folder still. 2. To ensure the mail is actually removed something like the command he ran or the one I use frequently (which is essentially the same thing) might be helpful: du -h --max-depth=1

Hi We have now checked with the suggested command and all folders for the default account are empty. We then checked /home/user/mail/user.tld with the same command to verify that the quota system did calculate the usage correctly. So the customer did actually empty the trash and it was done from webmail, as we do not allow sign-in to the default account from email clients. I have also manually checked the trash and it was empty as well. So from how it currently looks, it must be either a bug in the UI or something else that keeps showing the 4GB usage although it should be 0. 0 -
