Is Percona supported by cPanel?
I have read about Percona being faster than MariaDB (and standard MySQL).
Also Percona XtraBackup could make backups easier.
I found this guide from Percona blog:
How to Replace MySQL with Percona Server on a CPanel, WHM VPS or Dedicated Server
I also found links to cPanel documentation that was about installing Percona. However, that one is deleted (why?).
The Percona blog mentiones that Percona Server for MySQL 5.6 will work just fine, but Percona Server for MySQL 5.7 will have some issues: "One thing to keep in mind is that 5.7 breaks CPanel"s ability to create users in MySQL. I believe this is due to the changes to the mysql.user table. If this is an issue for you, you can always use Percona Server for MySQL 5.6."
1. Is Percona supported by cPanel?
2. Is the issue with Percona Server for MySQL 5.7 solved?
3. Do I lose some WHM/cPanel functionality installing Percona on my server?
4. Could my database and/or Percona setup break after WHM/cPanel updates?

Hello @Onklmaps, Percona is not offered with cPanel & WHM and the workaround steps referenced in that guide are unsupported and look to be outdated. To use Percona in a supported fashion with cPanel & WHM, you could purchase CloudLinux and use it's MySQL Governor feature that offers support for Percona: 0 -
Using CloudLinux is planned. So you are saying: WHM/cPanel + Centos + Percona = not offered, and not recommended? WHM/cPanel + CloudLinux + MySQL Governor + Percona = supported and recommended? 0 -
Hi @Onklmaps, WHM/cPanel + Centos + Percona = not offered, and not recommended?
Correct.WHM/cPanel + CloudLinux + MySQL Governor + Percona = supported and recommended?
Supported through CloudLinux, and recommended if you've already made the decision to use Percona. Thank you.0
