Backup Retention Local and Remote

Running WHM Backup, I specify a retention of 3 because we have limited storage on our web server. But over on S3 we essentially have unlimited storage. And yet WHM Backup ties the number of remote backups retained to the number of local backups retained - which makes no sense. My question is this: is there something in the scripts associated with WHM Backup tool that I can delete (or comment out) so that when the backup process runs it does NOT delete any backup files on the remote destination? Thanks.
