Upgrading Concerns

The cPanel folks really need to chime in on this. But I will add - cPanel 72 and cPanel 74 are end-of-life. They don't get updates any more. It's the nature of the business. Developers can't keep patching older and older software. It just doesn't work that way. It's the same reason Windows XP and MS-DOS 6.0 are no longer getting security updates... developers can't support it forever. Maybe your concerns have merit. I'm not going to dispute that. But, I know enough to know that developers can't support old software forever.

Hi, Based upon the concerns you raised, I recommend you switch to using the LTS update tier. Versions in the LTS tier receive fixes for around 14 months post release. That means you will receive security fixes during that time period. The LTS tier only receives features once a year, and there is a one to two month overlap between LTS versions. Once a non-LTS version is no longer present in the EDGE, CURRENT, RELEASE, or STABLE tiers it no longer qualifies for updates, security or otherwise. We do not support downgrading from one version to another (e.g. 76 to 74). We strongly recommend not using a version that is no longer supported. Unsupported versions in all likelihood have defects and security issues.
