Kernel Update in Cent0S 6 via WHM?
Is there a way to update the kernel through WHM....or is the only way through SSH with yum -y update?
Also...Just upgraded to v 76.0.20 ....but apparently that didn't also update the kernel:
The system kernel is at version "2.6.32-754.2.1.el6.x86_64", but an update is available: 2.6.32-754.10.1.el6.x86_64Update the system (run "yum -y update" on the command line), and reboot the system.
Seems to me that WHM should be able to do this w/o having to use stone age tools like putty.

Hello @Zardiw, You can enable the following option under the System tab in WHM >> Tweak Settings: Enable Linux kernel update during nightly maintenance. Here's the option's description: Each night, WHM updates your system software but does not update the kernel. If you select On, WHM will update the kernel. When you log in, WHM will notify you that your system requires a reboot. Let me know if this information helps. Thank you. 0 -
So will this update the Kernel by itself?
Hello, This will ensure the "kernel" package is not excluded when the system packages are updated automatically through "YUM". Keep in mind the kernel is an aspect of your operating system as opposed to the cPanel & WHM software itself. Additionally, you must reboot your system anytime the kernel is updated to ensure it's active.Too bad there's not a stand alone way to update the kernel.......
CloudLinux offers a product called KernelCare that does this: CloudLinux - Main | New template Thank you.0
