incoming mail rejected (rejected relay attempt), but outgoing emails OK
Hi,
My server's cPanel version is 78.0.12.
From the webmail (Horde/Roundcube) - I could send emails to Gmail, or any other legitimate email accounts/domains.
But incoming emails (e.g. I try to send email to myself from Gmail or my other email accouht) - I get this error mesg in "exim_mainlog"
H=(myother-hostname) [162.244.xx.xx]:54260 X=TLSv1.2:ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384:256 CV=no F= rejected RCPT :
Rejected relay attempt: '162.244.xx.xx' From: 'myname@myotherdomain.com' To: 'myname@mydomain.com'
The email ' myname@mydomain.com' exist on this cPanel VPS.
What is causing this "Rejected relay attempt" ? Why is the exim trying to 'relay' this email? It's supposed to be local delivery right?
Thanks!

Found the problem - for some reason, the /etc/localdomains file did NOT have the domains that are hosted on this server. Not sure why or how that could have happened, but it could possible be due to the cPanel backup/restore procedure. The accounts on this server was setup by restoring the 'cpmove-*' files from another cPanel (ver 76.x) server. Anyway, after entering the domains into the /etc/localdomains file - all is ok now. Hope this helps someone. 0 -
