Trouble with sending and receiving email
I have setup my cpanel and my domain name and all seems to be working, besides an email problem
In my DNS I have
mail A (pointing to IP addresses)
However, when I enter mail.domainname.co.uk (withheld actual domain name for privacy) into Thunderbird, I cannot send or receive email. The errors I get are cannot connect to imap or cannot connect to smtp.
I added two extra entries into my DNS
imap A (pointing to IP address) and
smtp A ( pointing to IP address)
Now when I enter imap.domainname.co.uk and smtp.domainname.co.uk into ThunderBird, it works.
As the default email which is sent out gives mail.domainname.co.uk, my employees will not be able to get it to work.
Any suggestion to what is going wrong would be appreciated, or is it possible to change the default email?
Thanks

It does seem that my Glue entries have not yet propagated fully, as my ns1 is coming back as no glue. 57457 0 -
Hello @PennineAcute You shouldn't need to add A records for imap.domain.tld or smpt.domain.tld unless you specifically plan on using this as your incoming/outgoing server. mail.domain.tld should suffice. Currently, I'm able to query mail.domain.tld as well as domain.tld without issue. In fact, looking up your domain in intodns.com as well as leafdns.com show now issues at this time. Are you still experiencing issues? At this point, I might assume that this was an issue with propagation. Thanks! 0 -
All is fine now, I think. ThunderBird is working dine. 0
