AutoSSL DNS DCV failures
Hi Guys, I've also just received an email listing a bunch of DNS DCV failure messages. They pertain to an account which has a bunch of add-on domains under it.
I've jumped onto the cPanel SSL/TSL wizard where nearly 50 items are listed. All but 7 appear okay many with a message that "The certificate for *..com will secure this domain."
5 of the failures ("does not resolve to any ip addresses") are for wildcards for the add-on domains extended name ie *... Do I need to worry about these failures?
2 of the failures are for the short add-on domain name for one of the add-on domains and for its wildcard ie .com. It happens that this add-on domain was never independently hosted where the other add-on domains that are not having a similar problem were once independently hosted and have recently been moved to be add-ons under the master domain. Again, do I need to worry about these failures.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi @Alex Stitt It seems all of your failures are related to wildcard domains specifically: of the failures ("does not resolve to any ip addresses") are for wildcards for the add-on domains extended name ie *... Do I need to worry about these failures?

AutoSSL doesn't cover wildcard domains, if you need a certificate for these you'd need to get a certificate that will specifically cover these wildcard domains.0 -
Thanks Lauren. Being a Newb (all this stuff is really just hobbist for me), does it matter if the wildcards don't have a certificate? Cheers, Lx 0 -
Hi @Alex Stitt Really that depends on what you're doing with them, I can't actually answer that for you but if you need to access them over https then I would say yes. 0 -
Thanks for that Lauren. My hosting provider has also given some comments, which leave me thinking the wildcards are OK to be non-https: Thanks again. Lx 0
